Christmas is a horrific, commercialized excuse of a celebration, and should be abandoned by all but the religious believers.

Agreed, but any excuse to be with loved ones is always welcomed.....which religious believers are we talking about here.....?

Agreed. It simply emphasizes our materialism and waste mentality.

Christmas is very much a family time, but i agree it's a bastardised religious holiday, and an excuse to exploit subscribers to capitalism (ie. the western world as a whole)

I do agree that Christmas is commercialized, it's the 'and' you added that makes me think, 'why not have everybody be happy at least once a year?' It shouldn't matter.

that may be true, but people enjoy the time, so why not let them

In this day and age Xmas is a holiday which you celebrate anyway you choose. If you want to be commercial about fine, but it's not forced apon you.

While I agree that Christmas is commercialised, it means so much to so many people. It's a way to get the whole family together and enjoy the act of giving - something that most only do once a year.
